Class in Hudson Valley

I just returned from a week long class in Greenville, NY at Hudson Valley Art Workshops. I took a class with Katie Pasquini Masopust. What a great class and teacher. We had a great group in the class and we all learned a great deal and came out of the class with several quilt possibilities.
We were led thru 2 days worth of creative exercises in which we all produced alot of artwork with possiblities.
Greenville is a very small charming community, and the leaves were at peak color, we had such a beautiful ride to Albany,NY to fly back home.

I went to Fiberworks for the opening. There are alot of very good displays and alot of talent represented. This is the first year I have gone. The IAO Gallery is a nice venue, the display for Fiberworks was really nicely done. I was very happy to learn that the Juror gave me an Award of Merit for my quilt Gradient Squares.

Woodstock Revisited

These are a couple of pictures of one of my latest quilts, the name of this quilt is Woodstock Revisited. The top of the quilt is a tie-dyed bedsheet. I purchased this sheet last May at a street festival in Tulsa,OKlahoma called Mayfest. There is a company called Crazy Hat that I purchased this sheet from. The minute I saw this sheet I could see it quilted, embroidered, and embellished. This Quilt has almost 100 embroidered peace signs and flowers, there are 1850 crystals, and 975 Holograms embellishing this quilt. On the back of the quilt I have added the names of about 20 of the artists that performed at Woodstock. This year is the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. This quilt was alot of fun to make. The tie-dye is the prettiest I have ever seen, the colors are very vibrant.

3 finished UFO's

I am finally starting to finish some UFOs, two of these are from a Stashbusters class at a local Quilt shop

small quilts

Here are a couple of small quilts, I am doing this alot lately. I guess I am wanting to experiment and try alot of what ifs lately. Here are a couple of small quilts that I have actually finished. The grapes are very deminsional, and the rock-n-roll quilt is a printed treasures print of the jukebox, and then it has been manipulated with paint, waster soluble wax pastels, and stitchind and embellishements were added

New Projects

Lately I have been working on finishing UFO's and working on small series quilts. This has been alot of fun, it has also produced alot more UFO's. Hopefully when they come off the wall they be a work in progress and finished

January Notes

The Oklahoma City Winter Show was a week ago. My quilt Reflections won a first place, and my red jacket Ladybug won a first place in the garment category. I have a quilt named Under the Sea II that took an honorable mention in an embroidery category. I was really excited. It was a really nice show, I had not attended before. I have attached a picture of the red jacket.

Next week I am going to Quilting in the Desert in Phoenix. I will be taking a class with Melinda Bula and a class on Fabric Painting with dyes, this class will be taught by Sharon Schamber.
